Water Resources Engineer (5 Years’ Experience)
Novatech is seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineer to join our established and growing team. We are looking for someone who appreciates using design concepts to build sustainable water resources infrastructure to contribute to developing communities in an environmentally responsible way. If you desire growth in a variety of projects and have the energetic spirit conducive to a dynamic team environment, this may be an ideal fit.
What You’ll Do
- Develop storm drainage and stormwater management for small- and large-scale land development and municipal infrastructure projects (urban & rural)
- Produce designs for storm drainage, stormwater treatment, and other water resources related projects
- Complete hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analysis of geospatial data
- Apply current industry practices and standards to undertake engineering analysis following approved standards and procedures.
- Compose stormwater management reports
- Support multi-disciplinary teams including civil engineers, planners and landscape architects in projects relating to infrastructure in urban and rural settings.
- Participate in meetings with the public, municipalities, and approvals agencies.
- Collaborate and share experience on past projects and water resources engineering knowledge within the team and the office.
Skills & Experience You’ll Need
- Proficient in the following software: SWMHYMO/Visual OTTHYMO; PCSWMM/EPA SWMM; HEC-RAS (open channel hydraulics); AutoCAD/Civil 3D; GIS; Microsoft Office Suite
- Broad knowledge of hydrologic & hydraulic modeling principles and their application
- Proficiency in the design of urban and rural drainage systems, including low-impact development design
- Strong verbal, written communication and technical writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
- A commitment to excellence and high-quality work with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- 4-5 years of work experience in related Water Resources engineering
Education and Accreditation Required
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a concentration in Water Resources
- P.Eng.
Compensation/Work Arrangements
- Salary Range: $95,000 – $100,00 annually. Salary offered will be based on education, experience, and skills

Land Use Planner (New Graduate)
Novatech is seeking a graduate to join our Planning and Development team. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about the opportunity to facilitate the growth and development of the City of Ottawa and surrounding rural and urban municipalities. If you desire an opportunity for professional growth, involvement in a variety of projects, and have the enthusiasm conducive to working in a dynamic team environment, this may be an ideal fit.
What You’ll Do
- Help complete and coordinate development approval applications, including Official Plan amendments, zoning amendments, Committee of Adjustment, Plan of Subdivision, Site Plan Control and condominium applications
- Review preliminary concept plans, perform due diligence activities and project evaluation
- Assist in preparing supporting documents such as Planning Rationales
- Liaise with clients, other consultants, municipalities and other associated agencies in the pursuit of approvals, communicating project information and coordinating tasks
- Participate in public meetings, hearings and events for development approval applications
- Assist in negotiating agreements and conditions (e.g., subdivision and site plan conditions/ agreements, condominium registration, permits, etc.)

- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced interdisciplinary work environment
- Strong analytical and report writing skills

Civil Engineering Technologist – CAD/Design (New Graduate)
We are seeking new talent to join our established and growing Novatech team. We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about using their technical abilities to prepare and design contract drawings for a variety of civil engineering linear infrastructure and site works projects. If you are driven, enjoy the attention to detail and have energetic spirit conducive to a dynamic environment, this may be an ideal fit.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare preliminary and detailed engineering design drawings using AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
- Assist with roadway, grading, and servicing design.
- Help prepare construction cost estimates.
- Develop knowledge of current industry practices and standards.
- Perform field inspections and field surveys as needed.
Skills & Experience You’ll Need
- High level of commitment and professionalism
- Knowledge of the following software: Microsoft Office applications; AutoCAD/Civil 3D
- Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong technical writing, attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A valid Province of Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle recommended.
- Field and or survey work experience an asset.
