Civil Engineering Technologist - CAD/Design (2-5 Years Experience)
Novatech is seeking a civil engineering technologist to join our established and growing team. We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about using their technical abilities to assist with the design of infrastructure drawings and to prepare construction drawings for a variety of land development and public infrastructure projects. If you are driven, enjoy attention to detail and have energetic spirit conducive to a dynamic environment, this may be an ideal fit.

Responsibilities
- Prepare preliminary and detailed engineering design drawings using CAD/Civil 3D per industry standards
- Assist with roadway, grading, and servicing design
- Work directly with other civil engineering technologists, civil engineers, planners and landscape architects and other project team members as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary project team
- Help prepare construction cost estimates
- Develop knowledge of current industry practices and standards
- Perform field inspections and field surveys as needed
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of the following software: AutoCAD/Civil 3D; Microsoft Office applications
- Related CAD/design experience
- Task oriented with strong organizational skills
- Commitment to excellence and high quality work, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with technical writing skills an asset
- Ability to work both independently and within in a multi-disciplinary team environment, with strong interpersonal skills
- Field experience in construction inspection and/or survey an asset
- Civil Engineering Technology Diploma, with design courses in storm and sanitary sewers, watermain, drainage, roadways and grading
- Minimum two years related experience
- C.E.T. designation, or pending, an asset
Civil Engineering Graduate – Land Development (New Graduate)
Novatech is seeking a new graduate to join our established and growing Land Development team. We are looking for someone who appreciates using design concepts to build sustainable infrastructure for developing communities in an environmentally responsible way. - Assist in developing design concepts into preliminary designs, including preparation of design briefs and general layout development
- Assist in completing preliminary grading and servicing design

Responsibilities
- Assist with coordination, communication and liaison with internal project teams, as well as contractors, builders, homeowners and municipal personnel.
- Participate in the inspection of various linear infrastructure and site work projects to ensure compliance with contract documents, quality and safety standards, including sewers, watermains, stormwater management facilities, roadways, grading, sidewalks, curbs and utilities.
- Learn to interpret requirements and details of contract drawings and specifications.
- Maintain a detailed daily diary of the contractor’s work, instructions provided, issues encountered, and change management used.
- Assist with logging as-built elevations and help to verify quantities, maintaining supporting documentation.
- Compile daily or weekly inspection reports for various construction sites.
- Assist with preparation of payment certificates.
- File project information electronically in appropriate folders on the shared drive.
- Assist with surveyor tasks as needed: pre-engineering surveys and construction layout, using a total station or GPS instrument.
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of the following software: Synchro Ver. 10 Traffic software; Rodel-v1Win Roundabout software; AutoCAD; Microsoft Office applications; (AutoCAD Civil 3D an asset)
- Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Task oriented while keeping in mind the overall project objectives with excellent organizational skills
- Commitment to excellence and high quality work, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
