Civil Engineering Graduate – Land Development (2-5 Years Experience)

Description

Novatech is seeking an experienced civil engineering graduate to join our established and growing Land Development team.  We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about using design concepts to build infrastructure for developing communities in an environmentally responsible way.  If you enjoy building relationships and working collaboratively in a dynamic team environment, this may be an ideal fit.

Responsibilities

  • Develop design concepts into preliminary then detailed designs, including analysis, design drawings and design reports, for grading, drainage and servicing design
  • Apply current industry practices and standards to undertake engineering analysis following approved standards and procedures
  • Work directly with other civil engineers, planners and landscape architects and other project team members to ensure that designs produced are consistent with and align with the overall design criteria and business objectives of the project
  • Prepare construction cost estimates, tenders and construction contracts
  • Undertake construction contract administration, in coordination with Novatech field inspectors
  • Develop project coordination, delegating, mentoring, and, ultimately, project management skills

Skills & Qualifications

    • Experience in land development engineering, including design of subdivisions and site plans
    • Proficient in the following software: AutoCAD/Civil 3D; Microsoft Office applications (PCSWMM and hydraulic watermain modelling software an asset)
    • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
    • Task oriented while keeping in mind the overall project objectives, with excellent organizational skills
    • Commitment to excellence and high quality work, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as technical writing skills
    • Ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team environment, with strong interpersonal skills
    • Field experience in construction inspection and/or survey essential
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
    • Minimum two years related experience, five years preferred
    • P.Eng. or pending

Civil Engineering Technologist – CAD/Design (2-5 Years Experience)

Novatech is seeking a civil engineering technologist to join our established and growing team.   We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about using their technical abilities to assist with the design of infrastructure drawings and to prepare construction drawings for a variety of land development and public infrastructure projects.   • Help prepare construction cost estimates
  • Develop knowledge of current industry practices and standards
  • Perform field inspections and field surveys as needed
